5. Change of my study programme

Hello everyone, I’m back with another blog. Today the topic is my career, specifically the program of studies.

Well, first of all, I’m only in the second year of Sociology, so I don’t know what the subjects will be in the future. I will only talk about the 3 semesters, and two of these were online.

I study Sociology in the Universidad de Chile, in the school of Social Sciences. We have introductory subjects in the first year, subjects to understand social sciences and the basics of sociology. This is a very good way to introduce the career for the people who don’t know (or know less) about sociology. I think that the first year wasn't good, for the online class, if the class wasn’t online maybe I would learn a lot more. But we learn other things (that are not subject, but are very useful) like how to find a bibliography for the works, how to read papers (or academic lectures in general). And for the subject themself, teachers have catedras and in all of my subjects we have a lot of lectures and we need to work in teams in most of them.

In the campus Juan Gomez Millas we have a very different schools, like arts, filosophy, social sciences, and others, and for that we have a lot of different builts, we have buildings “news” and other more olds, and in the first time when I came here, I lost, because we have, in that time, only two entrance work, and the campus is like a laberythm for me. And, before to walking around with a friend of other career, we found the library of sciences and the library of philosophy (and this is my favourite)

If you ask me what changes we need to do, in the programm, I say nothing (for now) because I feel that the subject is a little bit heavy, but if these are less heavy I think that we will not understand the subject at all. But, talking about the University itself, I think we need changes more administrative (all things that we demand in the occupation and strike of the campus), focus principally on tolerance and respect for all the people who work and study here.

  1. hi carla, again I agree with everything you say more generally, however I find that we need to give students more breaks so that stress levels do not overwhelm us and weigh on mental health.

  2. Hello Carla, I also feel that several of the problems that we want to change are, as you say, at an administrative level. I am especially bothered by the fact that there are no casinos or spaces that accept Junaeb on campus.

  3. Once I made the fool of myself going to aulario B looking for economics because I thought it was going to be there but I confused the mechone's wsp group with the 2nd year one
